"He was the youngest of us and, in so many ways, the most creative and the most authentic in his artistry. "It's unfathomable to consider that Anton's no longer with us," says Quinto, speaking by phone from Los Angeles a day after returning from London for a premiere. While there was some time to process the loss of Nimoy, the accidental death in June of 27-year-old actor Anton Yelchin, who played Chekhov, came as a devastating shock to the cast and crew. The goal was "to honor his legacy in the story of this film and I think we wanted to do it in a way that was more than just a cursory nod to it," says Quinto, who found a friend and mentor in Nimoy.
